Want to be confident in your training and racing to accomplish your goals? Attend a Fitter and Faster Clinic with Scott Weltz to learn how!
“I love what I do,” Scott says. “I truly believe swimming is the greatest sport on the planet. It gave me so much in my life, and I just want to give back to others and help them achieve their goals!”
Giving back to the sport is what Scott does best, and he capitalizes on his elite experiences with training and coaching to connect with participants and put them on the trajectory to success. Scott emphasizes that swimmers should first and foremost become students of the sport.
“This is my goal: to give participants insight into how and why they need to swim the way I tell them to. I believe what sets me apart is my kinesthetic understanding of swimming and what it takes to become great.”
Armed with creative cueing phrases and an intuitive feel for the water, Scott will connect with each swimmer in a way that will click and stick with them long after the clinic is over. “Sometimes, it just takes me saying the same concept but in a different way that gets through to my participants – they have to see the stroke through my eyes,” he says. “Oftentimes, simplifying concepts can make swimmers better.”
Among many other skills, swimmers attending Scott’s clinics can expect to learn the importance of body line, “down-hill swimming,” and engaging their bodies at all times throughout their stroke cycle. These three components can drastically change your swimmer’s ability to cut through the water and touch the wall first. Scott will give each swimmer practical ways to improve body line through practicing perfect streamlines, adjusting hip position for better core connectivity, as well as drills and dryland exercises to pair with these skills.
Scott also recognizes that physical skills can only get you so far in life; swimmers must also develop inner strength to not only be an impactful athlete but also an incredible person:
“As far as character development, I want them to remember grit – fighting through when things get hard, perseverance, overcoming obstacles, and never giving up. It is scary to give it 100% and fail – where do you go from there? But you never know how good you can be or how far you can go until your really try!”
Take this advice from someone who became an unexpected Olympic finalist in his first international competition, blowing the competition away through his incredibly hard work and dedication. Scott knows both how to build great swimmers and great people, and he can’t wait to share his knowledge and experience with others. “I just want to share with as many people as possible and help as many swimmers as possible!”

“Scott Weltz and Matthew D. were excellent instructors. They did a great job explaining and demonstrating the various drills & strokes to the kids. You could tell Scott connected with the kids. The kids asked great questions. Scott gave great answers that the kids could relate to. It was great to hear his personal story and his explanation on believing in yourself and your abilities. This was such a positive experience and so grateful to have been able to participate.” -Melissa, from Schaumburg, IL
