My Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, my effectiveness comes from a lifetime spent as a student. I am still a graduate student, and I base my success on a willingness to incorporate feedback from many sources. My teaching style is direct and hands-on. I believe in providing immediate feedback to help swimmers make real-time adjustments and improvements.

The joy of teaching comes from interacting with passionate students. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone achieve their goals. The most reliable tactic for advancing in swimming, in my experience, is a genuine love for the sport. This is a priceless asset that can take any swimmer far.

My advice to swimmers is simple: support and cheer for your friends. The friends you make in the pool are an essential part of the journey. I’m grateful to still have friends I met through swimming over 20 years ago.

Why Swim With Me?

I offer a person-centric coaching style that combines a deep knowledge of swimming technique with my personal success as one of the fastest IMers in U.S. history. While I specialize in the IM, I have also achieved success as a sprinter, mid-distance, and distance swimmer, giving me a versatile and comprehensive perspective on the sport.

My core belief is that because of swimming, I found and pursued a deep passion in my life. I hope to help others find that same passion.

One quote that has always motivated me is: “The sun will always rise tomorrow.” This simple phrase serves as a reminder that no matter the outcome of a race or practice, there is always another day to try again.
