Bio

Daniel Diehl is a World University Games Champion, a three-time World Junior Champion, and an elite NCAA All-American competing for the NC State Wolfpack. Hailing from Cumberland, Maryland, Daniel broke onto the national scene as one of the fastest and most highly recruited junior swimmers in American history. Guided by mentors like Brian Dowling, Dan Kulupski, and Stef Wendelschaefer, he translated his phenomenal age-group speed into massive international success for Team USA, capturing multiple World Junior titles and gold at the World University Games.

Now a standout for the NC State Wolfpack, Daniel has continued his trajectory at the collegiate level, earning NCAA All-American honors and an ACC Silver Medal. Beyond his raw speed and racing pedigree, Daniel considers himself a true student of the sport. Having gained hands-on experience coaching summer league teams, he has spent 15 years obsessively studying the technical intricacies of swimming. Known for his resilience in the face of adversity and his incredible mental toughness, Daniel brings a highly analytical, intensely competitive, and inspiringly authentic perspective to every clinic he leads.

From the Clinician

A Student of the Sport

“Parents should sign their swimmer up with me because I have a lot of knowledge about the sport that I have gained over the past 15 years of swimming. I’m a true student of the sport. I’ve always been very interested in the technical aspect of swimming, and having experience coaching a summer league team, I know how to break those details down.”

Overcoming the Plateau

“From 2023 to 2025, I had a long plateau. That period of time taught me humility. Pushing through and never giving up gave me a lot of confidence in my abilities outside of the water. The most important advice I’ve ever learned is to never give up, because eventually, the work will pay off.”

The Power of ‘Delusional Self-Belief’

“‘Delusional’ self-belief has been the most important part of my success. You have to believe in your ability to compete no matter how your training went or what the circumstances are.”

Shaping the Next Generation

“The sport of swimming has shaped me into the person I am today. Because of swimming, I gained confidence, a family, and the amazing opportunity to go to college. I want to share all the lessons I learned through swimming with the younger generation.”
