Emily Ilgenfritz is an elite distance freestyler and butterfly specialist who transitioned a highly successful club career into a record-breaking collegiate tenure. A native of York, Pennsylvania, Emily developed her foundation with the powerhouse York YMCA program, where she became a YMCA National Champion and National Record Holder.

She took her talents to the ACC to compete for Georgia Tech, where she etched her name into the Yellow Jackets’ history books. During her standout senior season, Emily qualified for the NCAA Championships and broke multiple school records in the distance freestyle events, including the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyles. In addition to her collegiate success, she proved herself on the national stage by qualifying for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials following a dominant performance at the Speedo Sectionals.

Balancing her elite athletic background with a passion for teaching, Emily has also spent three years coaching for the YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA). Her extensive experience as both a high-level competitor and a dedicated coach gives her a comprehensive understanding of stroke mechanics, distance training strategies, and the daily dedication required to excel in the pool.
