Maximus Williamson is an elite US National Team member and one of the most electric, versatile talents in American swimming history. Hailing from Keller, Texas, Maximus built a legendary age-group career, shattering National Age Group (NAG) records and capturing six Gold medals at the World Junior Championships. As the #1 ranked recruit in his class, he took his talents to Charlottesville to compete for the University of Virginia under Head Coach Todd DeSorbo.
During his historic 2026 freshman campaign, Maximus delivered one of the most thrilling performances in recent NCAA history. After tying for 8th in the 200 freestyle prelims with teammate David King—who selflessly ceded the swim-off—Maximus honored that sacrifice by winning the NCAA title out of lane 8, becoming the fastest American freshman ever in the event. He followed that up by hunting down the field to win the 200 IM title as well.
Beyond his world-class speed and technical precision, Maximus brings a high swimming IQ and a deep appreciation for team culture to the pool deck. He is passionate about giving back to the sport and excels at breaking down complex, high-level skills for athletes of all ages and abilities.
What makes me an effective clinician is my adaptability. I have always been a fast learner in the water, and I take pride in tailoring my teaching style to fit every individual’s unique needs. Whether a swimmer is just starting out or refining elite race details, I excel at breaking down the sport at all levels so that everyone can understand and apply the concepts.
A major way I advanced in my career was by learning how to handle adversity. Swimming at a high level comes with its share of challenges, and being able to bounce back from setbacks has been crucial to my success. I work with swimmers to help them fix their mental state and build the psychological resilience required to perform when it matters most.
While winning championships is incredible, my journey has truly been shaped by everyday experiences—the daily grind of practice, the shared struggles, and the social interactions with my teammates. Because of swimming, I gained the ability to work hard, a deep sense of self-confidence, and lifelong connections with friends and coaches. I believe it is incredibly important to give back to the community that gave me so much, and my goal is to help the next generation experience those same life-changing connections.
