Ryan Murphy is widely regarded as one of the greatest backstrokers in the history of the sport. Ryan developed his elite foundation at the storied Bolles School before heading West to compete for the University of California, Berkeley. Ryan swept the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke individual titles at the NCAA Championships for four consecutive years, cementing his legacy as an NCAA legend.

On the international stage, Ryan’s consistency and technical perfection have made him a cornerstone of Team USA for a decade. He burst onto the Olympic scene at the 2016 Rio Games, where he swept the backstroke events and broke the World Record in the 100-meter backstroke. Since then, he has served as a respected team captain and captured medals at three consecutive Olympic Games (Rio, Tokyo, and Paris), bringing his career total to nine Olympic medals.
